Handicap International discusses disability rights in UP forum

QUEZON CITY – Handicap International took part in the biannual Alternative Classroom Learning Experience (ACLE) at the University of the Philippines-Diliman on October 23.

Organized by student organization UP Batangan, the ACLE session titled “THIS-ABILITY: Disability and Handicap Awareness” gave students an overview of the nature of disability and the current issues surrounding it.

Verna Emy Pilayre, Inclusion Thematic Officer for Handicap International’s REBUILD Project, discussed the basics of disability, as well as Philippine laws about the subject.

The session, attended by dozens of UP students, also featured speakers from another organization focused on persons with disabilities.
