More than 800 residents of Davao City trooped to People’s Park to celebrate World Diabetes Day, November 14, with their version of the Global Diabetes Walk. Among them were persons with diabetes and their families, health service providers, government officials, and fitness advocates.
Organized by Handicap International’s CVD Project, in cooperation with the Davao City Health Office and the Department of Health Davao Region, the event consisted of a 1.2 km walk, an hour-long Zumba party, and a diabetes screening-consultation-education session.
Held all over the world since 2004, the Global Diabetes Walk is World Diabetes Foundation’s (WDF) awareness campaign on diabetes. WDF is funding the CVD Project (otherwise known as “Increasing Access to Multidisciplinary Diabetes Care”) from 2014 to 2016.
The CVD Project is implemented with financial support from
