Handicap International (HI) Philippines expresses its support to those affected by the recent 7.9 magnitude earthquake and numerous aftershocks in Nepal and the emergency response teams that have been providing humanitarian assistance in the area.

Most especially, our thoughts are with families left by the victims of the quake as the number of recorded casualties due to the devastating earthquake do nothing but rise.

Like Nepal, the Philippines is also prone to disasters – all the more reason that we need to strengthen our inclusive disaster risk reduction initiatives in the country. “If an earthquake of this size hits Manila, we should be prepared,” says HI Program Director Edith van Wijngaarden.
